Louisiana Political Science Association

The Louisiana Political Science Association is the state association of political scientists in Louisiana. It was founded in 1972. Its main function has been to hold annual meetings which give political scientists across the state the chance to present current research and afford graduate and undergraduate students for a to sharpen their research and writing skills. Every two or three years the LPSA jointly presents a meeting with the Mississippi Political Science Association.

In 1982, the LPSA sponsored the writing of a book edited by James Bolner titled Louisiana: Festival in a Political Labryinth, describing past and present politics in the state. Regrettably, this book has gone out of print. The LPSA is a contributing institution to the journal Politics and Policy. As such, an LPSA member serves as an associate editor and other members serve on the editorial board.
