Conference Group on Theory, Policy and Society

The purpose of the Conference Group on Theory, Policy and Society is to explore the theoretical foundations of public policy inquiry.

Although the field of policy studies has grown rapidly over the past several decades, the field as a whole has tended to neglect its theoretical and epistemological foundations. During the same period of time, there have been important developments in other areas of the social sciences that bear directly on the issues and concerns of policy research. More recently a new policy scholarship has begun to bring these new theoretical and methodological insights to bear on policy studies.

The Conference Group is organized to provide a forum for the exchange and discussion of ideas relevant to these theoretical concerns and their methodological implications for policy.
