Critical Needs
The APSA Annual Fund provides a source of flexible and supplemental support to core member programs and allows us to take advantage of unplanned opportunities or launch new initiatives at critical moments. In any given year, this can be support to diversity and inclusion programs, short courses on professional development, and travel grants to scholars attending the APSA Annual Meeting. While it is impossible to anticipate all of the challenges that the discipline may face, the APSA Annual Fund enables us to continue to make resources available to the political science community.
Ralph J. Bunche Fund
The Ralph J. Bunche Fund will secure the Ralph Bunche Summer Institute Program (RBSI) for future generations of scholars. The Institute encourages students to pursue academic careers in political science by introducing to the world of doctoral study to undergraduate students who are interested in broadening participation in political science and pursuing scholarship on issues affecting underrepresented groups or issues of tribal sovereignty and governance. The RBSI does this by:
- Enhancing writing, research, and analytical skills to increase competitiveness in the application and financial aid process for graduate school;
- Developing statistical skills for data analysis used in political science;
- Exposing participants to the significant questions in the discipline and profession of political science;
- Introducing participants to leading political scientists; and
- Educating participants about political science career opportunities and encouraging their application to doctoral programs in political science.
Diversity and Inclusion
APSA is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion in the discipline and supporting research on issues affecting underrepresented groups. These funds enable us to continue our commitment.

Grant and Research Support
In addition to funding urgent needs, APSA's grants support individual research in all fields of political science, and often provide funding opportunities for political scientists not employed at PhD-granting departments in the field, or who are in non-tenure track or contingent positions ineligible for departmental funding. Past recipients have been able to publish books and book chapters, journal articles, working papers, and conference presentations as a result of support from APSA.

Centennial Center
The APSA Centennial Center for Political Science and Public Affairs, which opened at APSA in 2003 through the generosity of the Association's members and friends, continues to support all fields of political science, facilitate collaboration among scholars within the discipline and across the social and behavioral sciences and humanities, and promotes communication between scholars and policymakers. A gift to Centennial Center helps it continue to fulfill its charge through research grants, the Visiting Scholar Program, and fellowships for outstanding political scientists and students.

International Programs
APSA's international programs work to support and advance political science scholarship by promoting closer interaction between political scientists based in and outside of the United States, as well as providing opportunities for greater cross-fertilization of their substantive and methodological concerns. Supporting the Association's international programs will enhance APSA's internationalization and in turn benefit the discipline as a whole by expanding networks, enriching theories, and broadening perspectives.

Congressional Fellowship Program
The Congressional Fellowship Program allows select political scientists, journalists, health specialists, federal executives and other professionals gain hands-on understanding of the legislative process by serving on Congressional staffs. A contribution to the program supports it in its objectives of expanding knowledge and awareness of Congress, enhancing public understanding of policy-making, and improving the quality of scholarship, teaching, and reporting on American national politics.
