Letter
from the New Editor
There
has been always a great tradition at the Urban Politics Section to publish its
informative and scholarly newsletters. As the new editor of Urban News, I would like to express my
thanks to Anirudh Ruhil and Melissa Marschall, the two previous
editors. What a tremendous job they have done! To serve the current 416 members
and those who will join our section in the near future, the first thing I will
do is to continue the great work left by Ani, Melissa and other previous
editors.
As
mentioned in the Fall 2000 newsletter, Urban News has a mission to
not only provide members and other readers with valuable and timely
information, but also “expand the number of critical essays we publish and hope
that the newsletter can eventually serve as a forum for discussing issues
critical to both urban scholars and practitioners.”
I
therefore, once again, encourage section members to submit not only news you
would like to share with other members, as well as scholarly essays that
address the important governance and organizational issues being discussed
within and outside APSA.
I would also like to invite you to check
out the Urban Politics Section’s website, which was just updated, at
http://www.apsanet.org/~urban/
Please also feel free to send your
comments and suggestions directly to me at
liu@uwosh.edu
I look forward to seeing you at the
upcoming APSA meeting, and especially at our Urban Politics Section business
meeting on September 2, 2004.
