Examples of Winning Chapter Activity Grant Proposals

In 1999, Pi Sigma Alpha funded nearly 60 Chapter Activity Grant Proposals for a wide range of chapter projects. Five of the winning 1999 proposals are offered here as examples of the form, length, and level of detail a good proposal should show. They are not meant to suggest that the selection committee favors these particular chapter activities over other kinds of activities. Remember that every proposal must include a cover letter signed by the Chapter Advisor, on his/her school letterhead, approving the proposal and confirming departmental support for the proposed activity.

Note that not all of these proposals were funded at the level requested. It is not unusual for the selection committee to trim the proposed budgets because they reflect an overly ambitious plan or are simply too high.

• Theta Alpha Chapter, Creighton University: to send a delegation to the 2000 Midwest Student Research Conference
  
• Mu Sigma Chapter, University of Central Florida: to support a poster session at the annual meeting of the Florida Political Science Association displaying the benefits of an active PSA chapter
  
• Xi Iota Chapter, DePaul University: to sponsor a Best Undergraduate Paper Contest
  
• Sigma Zeta Chapter, University of Idaho: to invite a nationally known speaker to lecture on state health care politics and policies
  
• Zeta Pi Chapter, University of South Florida: to conduct a statewide college student presidential straw poll
