To support the pursuit of excellence in the profession of political science, Pi Sigma Alpha supports the following programs:
- The Franklin L. Burdette Award for the best paper presented at the APSA Annual Meeting. The selection of the winner is made by a committee organized by the American Political Science Association (APSA). ($750)
- Best Paper Awards at Regional Political Science Association Meetings. The meeting organizers are responsible for the selection process. ($500 each)
- Pi Sigma Alpha Lectures at APSA and at Regional and State Political Science Association Meetings. The purpose of the lecture series is to give academic political scientists an opportunity to hear from speakers in public service or journalism on topics of current political interest. The National Office organizes the lecture for the APSA meeting; regional and state program chairs select lecturers for their meetings with approval from the National Office. ($1,000 per regional meeting; $500 per state meeting, number limited)
