Course Requirements and Evaluation
This will be a small class. Though I may at times lecture on certain topics, for the most part I want to run it like a seminar. This places substantial responsibility on you for the success of the course. I will expect you to attend each class meeting, and to participate actively in our discussions. That participation will account for one-third of your course grade.

I will also require that submit a brief (750 word) essay every other Thursday, presenting your ideas and your research findings. Those papers will account for two-thirds of your course grade. I will explain the format and content of these papers in class. For a sense of my expectations, please see a short piece I wrote recently, or a longer piece I have borrowed from a colleague.
