|
 |
The International Encyclopedia of Political Science (IEPS) seeks contribution of entries from faculty and graduate students in ten subfields of political science including federalism and public administration. The Encyclopedia is a projected five-volume work of more than 2,000 entries and 1.8 million words. It is planned for publication in 2008 with a final manuscript delivery on or before August 10, 2007. The work is intended as the largest disciplinary encyclopedia for political science in the 21st century. Undertaken with the assistance of the American Political Association (APSA) the work will bring together political scientists from over 60 countries to discuss and assess the core issues in politics and political science. It will trace the evolution of political theories, concepts, research frameworks and political practices.
In the selection of contributors as well as the selection of articles, the encyclopedia will be guided by two principles: It will be international in scope and balanced in its treatment. The work will cover a wide range of interpretations, both Western and non-Western, both Northern and Southern. It will incorporate perspectives drawn from related disciplines, such as gender studies, sociology, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, law history, economics, environmental studies and international studies. On controversial issues, it will offer a number of alternative essays.
Federalism entries will include the following topics:
· Autogestion
· Commonwealth
· Comparative Federalism
· Distribution
· Distribution of Powers (in a Federation)
· Dominion
· Interstate Rendition
· Province/Provincial Politics
· Unitary Government
