Dakar Workshop Concludes

The inaugural APSA workshop in Africa, convened on the theme of Political Participation in Dakar, Senegal, successfully concluded on July 27. Twenty-five participants were selected from a pool of 70 applicants from across Africa and the workshop was led by a team of 2 US and 2 African workshop leaders. Administrative support was provided by the West African Research Center and APSA staff on the ground.

Organized as part of a larger, 3-year effort funded by the Mellon Foundation, the Dakar workhsop represents a new effort by APSA to support the work of political science researchers and teachers in Africa. The call for applications for prospective workshop leaders for the 2009 workshop--to be held in Accra, Ghana--will be issued in August.
