Supplying political science departments with resources to aid in the administration of the department and to keep in touch with trends and development in the discipline is an important mission of the Association.
CONFERENCE FOR CHAIRS
In February 2007, APSA launched the inaugural Conference for Chairs, which is expected to become an annual event, held in tandem with the APSA Teaching and Learning Conference. For more information on the Conference for Chairs, see /section_712.cfm.
ANNUAL MEETING WORKSHOP FOR CHAIRS
Each year at the APSA Annual Meeting APSA hosts a workshop for department chairs. These sessions focus on issues important to the unique challenges facing department chairs.
2007: The Workshop for Political Science Department Chairs will focus on the role department chairs play in financial development. The Departmental Services Committee and APSA invite you to share major successes or challenges that you have come across while fundraising. Sponsor One Year of APSA Membership for YOUR Masters and Ph.D. Students To introduce Masters and Ph.D. candidates to the profession, APSA has established a membership subsidy for first and second year Ph.D. students. Through this program, doctoral program may sponsor one year of APSA membership for their students. Extending a complimentary year of membership to graduate students can help orient them in their career and encourage the development of engaged politial scientists.
