A Dialogue on American Foreign Policy and Jordanian Society / 29-31 May 2008 We are seeking applicants to participate in the Global Young Leaders Summit 2008 in Morocco, Egypt, and Jordan between 21 and 28 years old. We seek an ideologically and geographically diverse group. Up to 25 Americans and 25 Middle Eastern and North African participants will be admitted per conference. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the conference. Lodging and meals is included. About Global Young Leaders Summit 2008 Three conferences across the Middle East and North Africa will take place in April and May to discuss U.S. foreign policy and political reform. Participants will actively draft policy recommendations. The conferences will lay the foundation for a lasting network of reform-oriented young people by using social networking websites for political activism, fostering people-powered journalism and commentary, and providing training for participants to act as "voices" for the conference recommendations. Morocco 25 – 26 April 2008 Americans for Informed Democracy (AID) , the Project on Middle East Democracy (POMED) and local partners Centre Marocain d’Etudes Stratégiques (CMES) and the Institut National de la Jeunesse et la Démocratie (INJD) are organizing the conference Find Your Voice: A Cross-Cultural Forum on Political Participation and Civic Activism. This conference brings together 25 Americans and 25 Moroccans to discuss the necessity of youth mobilization in the political process and empowering emerging leaders in political parties and civil society. Egypt 2 – 3 May 2008 Americans for Informed Democracy (AID), the Project on Middle East Democracy (POMED) and local partners Center for American Studies and Research, the Egyptology Club at the American University in Cairo, and the Annual Conference for Engineering Students (ACES) of Ain Shams University are organizing the conference Beyond Borders: An Egyptian-American Dialogue. This two-day conference gathers 25 Americans and 25 Egyptians to hold a multilingual dialogue on a variety of topics related to journalism, civic participation, and several facets of U.S. policy in the Middle East. Jordan 29 – 31 May 2008 Americans for Informed Democracy (AID), the Project on Middle East Democracy (POMED) and local partners University of Jordan Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) and Leaders of Tomorrow (LoT) are organizing the conference We Are Connected, But Are We Communicating? A Dialogue on American Foreign Policy and Jordanian Society. The 3-day conference brings together 25 Americans and 25 Jordanians to discuss the impact of American foreign policy in Jordan, and its effect on political reform in the region. Participants will work out strategies to draft policy recommendations.
