American Political Science Association Offers New Expert-Locator Service: “MediaConnect” Helps Journalists Find Political Scientists for News Stories, Analysis
Washington, DC—The American Political Science Association (APSA) today announced the establishment of a new service, entitled MediaConnect, to assist journalists in finding scholars that can help provide context and analysis for ongoing or breaking news stories. This service provides journalists easy and rapid access to the expertise of political scientists across the country on all aspects of politics—ranging from terrorism to U.S. national security and foreign policy to the 2008 elections and politics at all levels.
MediaConnect draws on a growing, self-selected pool of scholars that are members of the Association and are interested in responding to press inquiries. This pool is diverse in terms of research topics—which include the full range of American and international politics—as well as geography, gender, ethnicity, and type of institution of higher education.
All journalists interested in using this free service are encouraged to contact the Association by emailing press@apsanet.org or to visit www.politicalsciencenews.org for more information. Press requests for sources or experts must include the following: name and affiliation of the requestor; contact information; relevant deadline; and brief description of the story.
