Instructions for the Annual Meeting Paper Authors and Co-authors

Thank you for presenting your research at the upcoming APSA Annual Meeting! 

We appreciate your support and that of your colleagues in circulating the Annual Meeting papers as widely as possible. The following guidelines are provided to help maximize and facilitate the exchange of scholarly research in political science. 

Responsibilities of Paper Authors
Paper authors are required to send the final version of their papers to panel Discussants by August 8, 2008.  Discussants have the option of excluding from discussion papers submitted late.

A second copy of papers should also be forwarded to Panel Chairs, who will be responsible for nominating papers for the Franklin Burdette/Pi Sigma Alpha award. This cash prize, first awarded in 1964, is given to the author(s) of the best paper presented at the Annual Meeting. The deadline for consideration is September 19, 2008. Papers presented during panels or poster sessions are eligible for consideration.

Uploading Papers to PROceedings
Authors will receive an email from All Academic, Inc. mid-July with instructions on how to upload conference papers PROceedings.

By submitting papers to PROceedings, authors:

  • Ensure that scholars have ample time to review papers prepare to discuss their findings before the Meeting;
  • Give scholars unable to attend the Meeting an opportunity to find and review your research.

Specifications for Papers

Copyright: The cover page should have the title, author's name and affiliation, and the following statement:

"Prepared for delivery at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association, August 28-31, 2008.
Copyright by the American Political Science Association."

Length: Suggested length for papers is 20 single-spaced pages.

Annual Meeting Registration
As a Program participant, authors must pre-register for the conference. Individuals recently added to the Program must pre-register as soon as possible. Failure to pre-register will result in omission from the Final Program. To pre-register:

  1. Log in to MyAPSA using the login boxes found at the top of all APSA pages. If you do not have your login information, use the password request feature or contact the membership team at membership@apsanet.org
  2. Scroll down to the Annual Meeting box and click Pre-register for the 2008 Annual Meeting.


Title Deadline
Accurate paper titles must be received by July 9, 2008 for inclusion in the Final Program.  All changes received after this date will be included in the conference online program. Title changes must be emailed for approval to Division Chairs.
