Travel Grants
APSA Annual Meeting

Deadline is May 26!

APSA provides travel grants to assist some members in attending the Annual Meeting.  U.S. graduate students, international graduate students studying in the U.S., unemployed APSA members, and international scholars are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to presenters at the Annual Meeting, first-time applicants, or those who have not received a travel grant since 2006.

Review the information here and, if you think you might qualify, login to MyAPSA using the myAPSA/DSPonline login  (found at top of every page).  Starting in early 2008, members will find the "Apply for Travel Grant" link in the 2008 Annual Meeting section of the login page.

Important Dates and Requirements:

  • The deadline to apply is May 26, 2008.  Late applications will not be accepted.
  • Applicants who have pre-registered for the Annual Meeting by April 25, 2008 will receive priority.

  • Only APSA members who are pre-registered for the APSA Annual Meeting are eligible to receive travel grants. If you are not a member, join now!
  • Please note that you can join online, but your membership will not be active for 3-5 business days.  If you are not a member and plan on applying for a travel grant, please join well in advance of the application deadline.

Travel grants will be considered for:

  • U.S. Graduate Students & Unemployed Members - APSA members who are graduate students, U.S. citizens, and are studying at a U.S. doctoral program, or APSA members who qualify for unemployed membership status may apply for up to $300 toward conference expenses.

  • International Graduate Students Studying In The U.S.  - Non-U.S. graduate students studying at a U.S. doctoral program who are also APSA members may apply for up to $300 toward conference expenses.

  • International Scholars - Non-U.S. scholars or doctoral students from outside the United States who are also APSA members may also apply for assistance.  Average cash awards have ranged from $400-$700.  Travel grants are not designed to provide full funding.  A limited number of hotel rooms are available for these international scholars only; scholars are asked to share rooms whenever possible and preference will be given to applicants who are willing to share hotel rooms.
