  2. APSA PROGRAMS AND GOVERNANCE NEWS
    1. Council Seeks Member Comment on Meeting Siting
The APSA Council is considering policy about selecting sites for our Annual Meeting and other APSA conferences related to state laws about rights afforded same-sex unions legally recognized in other states. We are also considering the situation of the 2012 Annual Meeting already contracted for New Orleans, Louisiana. Earlier this month, the Council invited members to review a statement from the Council and documents on the siting issue and asked members to provide feedback to the Council. The statement from the Committee on the Status of Blacks in the Profession delivered to the Council at the April 2008 meeting has recently been added to the resource list. To view a statement from the Council, documents related to these issues, and a facility to submit comments, members are encouraged to login to MyAPSA and click on "APSA Meeting Siting" link. The APSA Council will meet on June 26 to discuss meeting siting policy and welcomes member comment on this issue. Please provide your feedback to the Council by May 30, 2008.

The Section will define "health politics and policy" broadly - covering many topics in ethics, research, budgeting, and regulation. The organizers are coordinating a nomination process for officers and will hold a business meeting at the Annual Meeting in Boston.
