Bowling Green State University Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology

The Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology is dedicated to creating an environment for faculty to achieve excellence in teaching through innovation, collaboration and technological support. The various workshops included under the topics to the left represent some of the CTLT's sponsored events for faculty which support their scholarship activities.

The Harriet W. Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning -Brown University
The consistent focus of all the Sheridan Center activities is to ensure the highest quality education for undergraduate and graduate students at Brown University. The Sheridan Center supports faculty and graduate teaching assistants efforts to provide an environment for student learning which helps each student realize his or her own best potential. The services, programs and publications of the Sheridan Center are designed to assist faculty and graduate teaching assistants in teaching, advising and mentoring students with that fundamental goal in mind.

Office of Instructional Development University of California at Los Angeles
The UCLA Office of Instructional Development (OID) supports the instructional mission of the University and enhances teaching and learning opportunities. Through grants, programs and services OID promotes the effective use of current and emerging instructional methodologies and technologies.

Center for Teaching Development
The Center for Teaching Development (CTD) is a service program devoted to the improvement of all aspects of teaching. CTD is a reflection of the university's commitment to educational excellence, and provides a central facility to assist all instructors in the continued improvement of teaching and learning. CTD includes the Teaching Assistant Development Program, the International Teaching Assistant Language Program, the Instructional Technology Center and a Faculty Instructional Services Center.

Center for Teaching Excellence -University of California, Santa Cruz
The Santa Cruz campus of the University of California was established in 1965 with a vision of combining the university's renowned strengths in scholarship and research with a devotion to undergraduate teaching. Since 1991, the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) has been in place to promote, sustain, and recognize the highest quality of teaching at UCSC. CTE keeps a spotlight on teaching through a wide variety of programs, services, and activities designed to support faculty and graduate students in their efforts to grow and thrive as teachers, to enhance the overall quality of instruction at UCSC, and to improve students' long-term learning.

Center for Teaching Effectiveness -University of Delaware
Since the 1960's the University of Delaware has offered a variety of instructional consultation and other support services to faculty and teaching assistants. The Center for Teaching Effectiveness was established by the Faculty Senate in 1975 to continue this role. The Center's primary mission is to: Support the instructional improvement efforts of faculty, TAs and other teaching staff, Facilitate the education of graduate teaching assistants, Cultivate an institutional climate which values and rewards teaching, and Promote high quality student learning

Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence
The Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence, formerly the University Teaching Center, was established in 1982, to organize and conduct programs to improve the quality of instruction at Carnegie Mellon. In recognition of The Eberly Family Charitable Trust Support, the Center was renamed in 1996. The Center helps both faculty members and graduate students to improve teaching practices by gaining an understanding of cognitive and educational principles of teaching and learning and by reflecting, practicing, and receiving feedback on course design and classroom performance.

The Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT) - Illinois State University
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching is a multipurpose, interdisciplinary unit dedicated to the advancement of teaching and student learning. The center's mission is to serve the entire instructional community at Illinois State, including graduate assistants and those with temporary teaching assignments, other institutions of higher education in Illinois, and the business sector. At Illinois State, the office advocates and facilitates the enhancement of teaching, with an emphasis on general as well as more focused pedagogies; encourages self-reflection and provides support for individual instructors; and promotes a community of teacher-scholars, wherein views, experiences, and research about the theory and practice of pedagogy are shared.

Indiana State University, Center for Teaching and Learning
The Center for Teaching and Learning is dedicated to promoting effective teaching, continued faculty development, and the highest quality learning experience for students at Indiana State University.

The Center for Excellence in Education
CEE provides vendor-neutral, client-centered workshops, seminars, and institutes to K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and corporate training organizations on the use of current technologies for improving instruction; Examples of workshops and seminars are Strategic Planning Seminars that enable school districts to plan more effective use of technology, Internet workshops that provide training in the use of the Internet for instruction, and distance learning institutes providing training to faculty in the use of distance learning technologies.

The IUPUI Center for Teaching & Learning
IUPUI is truly unique in its emphasis on professional development. We hope to engage our faculty and academic staff continuously in activities that will further their own growth and the achievement of our collective goals. The IUPUI Office for Professional Development (OPD) coordinates these professional development activities. In the true collaborative spirit that characterizes our institution, OPD integrates resources from several campus units to provide a full range of professional development services for the convenience of faculty and academic staff. OPD collaborates with University Information Technology Services, University Libraries, the Center for Public Service and Leadership, and others to address our mission.

Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching Iowa State University
The Center for Teaching Excellence offers the resources and the support teachers need to be scholarly, innovative, and effective. Helping students to learn better is our primary goal. Iowa State University is committed to enhancing the role of teaching through the CTE, a division of the Office of the Provost.

Exemplary Junior Faculty Mentoring Programs
This document includes information about the best mentoring programs for junior faculty found in the course of our inquiry. One program is particular to FAS junior faculty, two programs were designed particularly for women faculty, one is particular to medical faculty, and one was designed for women faculty but since expanded to include the entire junior faculty. 

University of Maryland, Center for Teaching Excellence
The University of Maryland's Center for Teaching Excellence is an initiative of the Office of the Associate Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Studies. Its purpose is to support the campus-wide efforts to enhance and reform undergraduate education and to offer tangible assistance to individual faculty and TAs as well as to the departments and colleges in which they work.
