"Friend or Foe: The External Review" Roundtable 2009 APSA Annual Meeting

The external review can often be viewed as a necessary evil. But can it also offer departments and department chairs with the opportunity to gain deeper insight in the way in which their department operates as well as performance?  How can chairs and faculty best harness the work associated with preparing for a review to departmental and institutional goals—and follow up constructively?

The 2009 Annual Meeting will feature a session sponsored by the Departmental Services Committee entitled "Friend or Foe; the External Review," to be held on Thursday, September 3, 12:00-2:00PM to address these questions.

The session will include political scientists with an extensive collective background in conducting and experiencing external reviews, including:
Gretchen Bauer, University of Delaware
Evelyne Huber, University of North Carolina
John Woolley, UC-Santa Barbara
Stephen Majeski, University of Washington
Michael Kraft, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay

As department chair, you are cordially invited to attend and to forward this invitation to any colleagues you think may be interested in the session.
