Home 2009 Teaching and Learning Conference Track Descriptions For more information on the topics that will be discussed in each track, please click on the Track Description links below. Track Descriptions Using a working-group model, the conference is a forum to develop models on teaching and learning as well as to discuss broad themes and values affecting political science education. The meeting will consist of 12 tracks* constructed around these themes:  Program Assessment   Internationalizing the Curriculum   Diversity, Inclusiveness, and Inequality   Teaching Research Methods   Graduate Education and Professional Development    Simulations and Role Playing   Civic Engagement   Core Curriculum/General Education   Teaching Across the Discipline Within the working groups, presenters report on their original research as part of a sustained and extended presentation, conversation, and discussion. Discussants will have read each paper and be prepared to participate in discussions on cutting edge pedagogical issues.   Workshops Descriptions Workshops focus on practical issues related to teaching and allow participants to interact with political scientists outside of their assigned conference track.  The call for workshops includes the following themes: Civic Education and Engagement    Integrating Technology in the Classroom    Classroom and Program Assessment    Scholarship of Teaching and Learning    Professional Development    Workshops will present the participants with an opportunity to acquire a new pedagogical outlook or knowledge on a particular topic within teaching and learning. It is recommended that workshop presenters be prepared to present an interactive workshop that emphasizes audience involvement and demonstrations. The workshops are offered as an addition to the traditional working group model. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend at least two workshops in addition to their participation in a themed track.
