In keeping with the 2010 conference theme, special consideration will be given to proposals that explore how citizens respond to economic crisis. Examples include how crisis affects either cognitive processes, candidate and leadership evaluations, identity, values, political confidence and trust, political communication, or political behavior. Proposals that involve either cross-national approaches or experimental methods are also encouraged.

Paper proposals should explain why the proposed research is important, detail the methodological approach, the data sources to be employed, and the hypotheses to be tested, and briefly outline preliminary findings (if applicable). Proposals for panels and roundtables should include only individuals who have already agreed to participate. Proposals that intersect with other divisions within the Association (e.g., Elections and Voting Behavior, Political Communication; Public Opinion; Race, Ethnicity, and Politics; Women and Politics; Political Methodology; etc.) will be given careful consideration.
