The Society for Romanian Studies invites paper proposals for the 2012 annual meeting of the APSA. The conference theme this year is Representation and Renewal, which encompasses the normative ideals we attach to representation, the factors that impede the realization of those ideals in practice, and the potential for representative relationships to translate citizens' collective aspirations into effective public initiatives. We are particularly interested in proposals that are in keeping with this broad theme with Romania as a single case study or in comparative perspective although proposals that focus on the Republic of Moldova also will be considered.
