Politica: Society for the Study of Medieval Political Thought

Politica, the Society for the Study of Medieval Political Thought, will be sponsoring one panel at the 2012 annual meeting of the American Political Science Association at New Orleans, LA. In light of the annual meeting’s theme “Representation and Renewal,” Politica’s panel will focus on the normative ideals that grounded theories and concepts of representation in the Middle Ages, the factors that impeded the realization of those ideals in practice, and the potential for representative relationships --whether preserved, reformed, or radically overhauled—to translate the collective aspirations of citizens into effective public initiatives. All scholars – faculty and graduate students – are invited to submit papers for consideration.
