The Iberian Politics Related Group invites proposals for papers on politics in Spain and Portugal. While we invite proposals on all topics of Iberian politics, we are particularly interested in proposal s that speak to the conference theme of “The Politics of Hard Times:  Citizens, Nations, and the International System under Economic Stress.” For example, to what extent are the democracies in Spain and Portugal institutionalized affected by the global economic crises? Have there been any political responses to the hard times, and if so, what are they? How are political institutions, political dynamics, and economic processes adjusting to a changing global context?  To what extent can we find stability and change in the political systems of the two countries in response to the hard times?  We invite proposals regardless of the methodological or theoretical approach but particularly welcome proposals that are comparative, either between Spain and Portugal, or with other countries.
