Urban Politics
The purpose of the Section is to promote interest in teaching and research in urban politics and policy. The Section seeks to encourage communication among person interested in urban politics within the Association and within related disciples.
Website: The Section operates a web site at www.apsanet.org/~urban that includes access to research and data, conference information, Section business, and more.

The Best Dissertation Award for the best dissertation on urban politics completed and accepted in the previous year. Hard copies (or electronic, if preferred by committee members) of dissertations completed and approved in 2009 should be to each committee member by March 1, 2010.

The Bryan Jackson Dissertation In Ethnic and Racial Politics Research Support Award is given to a graduate student studying racial and ethnic politics in an urban setting. Norton Long Career Achievement Award is presented annually to a scholar who has made distinguished contributions to the study of urban politics over the course of a career through scholarly publication, the mentoring of students, and public service. Norton Long Young Scholars is an award for scholars who completed their Ph.D. within the last three years (this also includes ABDs) and submitted a paper proposal for the 2010 APSA meetings to the 2010 program chairs. Recognition is given via a panel presentation at the APSA Annual Meeting. Please send the appropriate proposals to the panel chairs and designate that you are eligible for the Norton Long Young Scholars Award.
