The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation's premier Hispanic educational and youth leadership development organization, today launched a national campaign to recruit Hispanic students - undergraduate and graduate - for its nationally recognized youth development leadership programs.
CHCI Fellowships
CHCI Public Policy Fellowship This is a paid Fellowship Program that offers talented Latinos, who have earned a bachelor's degree within two years of the program start date, the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the national level in public policy.
Fellows have the opportunity to work in congressional offices and federal agencies, depending on their area of interest. Some past focus areas have included international affairs, economic development, health and education policy, housing, or local government.
CHCI Graduate Fellowship Program This paid Fellowship Program offers exceptional Latinos who have earned a graduate degree or higher related to a chosen policy issue area within three years of program start date unparalleled exposure to hands-on experience in public policy. This program focuses specifically on the areas of:
- Higher Education
- Secondary Education
- Health
- Housing
- International Affairs (includes last three months abroad in Mexico)
- Law
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
This unique fellowship program seeks to enhance participants' leadership abilities, strengthen professional skills, and increase the presence of Latinos in public policy areas.
CHCI Scholarship Program Description CHCI's scholarship opportunities are afforded to Latino students in the United States who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who demonstrate a desire to continue their civic engagement in the future. There is no GPA or academic major requirement. Students with excellent leadership potential are encouraged to apply. Eligibility Criteria:
- Full-time enrollment in a United States Department of Education accredited community college, four-year university, or graduate/professional program during the period for which scholarship is requested
- Demonstrated financial need
- Consistent, active participation in public and/or community service activities
- Strong writing skills
- U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency
