Political Methodology

The purpose of this Section is to provide members with an interest in methodology, including research design, measurement, statistics and the opportunities to meet and exchange ideas.

Website: The home page of the Society for Political Methodology, the Political Methodology Section of the American Political Science Association is located at http://polmeth.wustl.edu/, and it is the central web site for the political methodology community. The primary purpose of this site is to serve as the gateway to the Electronic Paper Archive, which is an exchange of syllabi and publication of section activities.  From there you can view abstracts of conference and Working Papers online and download papers for local printing. This is also the gateway to The Political Methodologist, our newsletter, and Political Analysis, the official journal of the section.

Much of the work we do relies upon the use of mathematical and statistical software, so this site also includes links to useful computing resources. Political methodology focuses on the analysis of empirical data, so we also provide replication data sets and example data sets from published and unpublished work on the Research and Teaching page. The Section Activities page includes additional useful information about the Society such as officers, events, announcements about upcoming events, and other useful information such as local groups, travel links, awards, and polmeth in the news. There is also a Conference page with information about conferences in political science and other disciplines that are of interest to section members.

We have collected and stored links to Individual Syllabi that are oriented around political methodology (broadly defined). The goal is to provide a new resource where visitors to this site can browse a wide range of syllabi in quantitative political science, research methods, and other closely related areas of interest. This page also has instructions if you would like to link your class syllabus and become part of the project.
