Black Women, Gender & Families emphasizes the study of Black women, gender, families, and communities. The journal welcomes research and theoretical submissions in history, sociology, anthropology, social psychology, education, economics, political science, and literature that are framed by Black Women’s Studies perspectives and a policy or social analysis. Interdisciplinary, comparative, and transnational studies of the African Diaspora and other women, families, and communities of color are also encouraged.

Call for Papers
BWGF is an interdisciplinary journal and welcomes manuscripts from scholars whose research provides original and theoretical research which uses a Black Women's Studies framework and/or policy or social analysis. Interdisciplinary, comparative, and transnational studies of the African Diaspora and other women, families, and communities of color are also encouraged. Interested authors should submit all manuscripts electronically through our website by following the submission link at: http://www.bwgf.uiuc.edu. Submissions should not exceed 30 pages, including notes, tables, and references. Abstracts and manuscripts should be written in the Chicago Style, 15th edition. Previously published work or that currently under consideration elsewhere will not be considered. Please visit our website for more details on submission guidelines.

BWGF is an official journal of the National Council for Black Studies (NCBS) in collaboration with the African American Studies and Research Program (AASRP) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The journal is peer-reviewed, and is published biannually by the University of Illinois Press.
