Printer-friendly format

Valerie Martinez-Ebers is an associate professor at Texas Christian University and last year's president of the Western Political Science Association. A former co-president of the Race, Ethnicity and Politics Related Section of the APSA, Martinez teaches courses in race, ethnicity and politics, public policy, research methods, and civil liberties and political tolerance. Many of her publications are on the consequences of education policy for minority students but she also has publications on topics in Latino politics, methods of survey research and aging policy. Her forthcoming book with UT Press is entitled,  Politicas: Latina Trailblazers in the Texas Political Arena.  She is a co-principal investigator of the Latino National Survey (LNS) funded by Ford, Carnegie, Russell Sage, Hewlett, Joyce and National Science Foundations. Completed in August 2006, the LNS is an 8,600 respondent state-stratified survey of Latinos in the U.S.  Her most recent journal article, "Su Casa Es Nuestra Casa: Latino Politics Research and the Development of American Political Science," was co-authored with the other LNS principals and published in the February 2006 volume of APSR.. Martinez received her Ph.D. from Ohio State University and taught eight years at the University of North Texas before moving to TCU.
