APSA Journals Move to Editorial Manager Online Manuscript Submission and Manuscript Management

The APSA journals, American Political Science Review, PS: Political Science & Politics, and Perspectives on Politics, will begin using the web-based editorial management system Editorial Manager in July 2007 to accept new manuscripts, invite and receive peer reviews, and edit and manage the journals.

The move to an online management system will support greater transparency in the submission, acknowledgement, peer review, revise and resubmit, editorial and manuscript decision processes. With Editorial Manager authors will be able to submit manuscripts, check on the status of their work, read reviews and editors' comments, and communicate with the editorial offices from the convenience of the Internet. Reviewers will be invited via email to access blind manuscripts and to contribute reviews entirely online. The online system will enable editorial staff to streamline their procedures by automating communications with authors, reviewers and editorial staff and by facilitating online manuscript and review tracking.

SUBMITTING & REVIEWING NEW MANUSCRIPTS

Authors should begin using Editorial Manager to submit new manuscripts to APSA journals following the launch dates below. Reviewers will be invited via email to review and will be directed to Editorial Manager to express their their willingness to review, to access manuscripts and to post their reviews.

AUTHORS AND REVIEWERS OF WORKS IN PROGRESS

Manuscripts submitted to the journals before July 2007 will be handled through the prior systems. NOTE: authors/reviewers of works in-progress for PS will continue to use Manuscript Central for these works. Please contact the journal offices for any questions about articles in-process prior to July.
