Call for Papers: Survey and Field Experiments on American Political Behavior and Opinion

In 2008, American Politics Research, will publish a special issue dedicated to experimentally oriented approaches to understanding political behavior and public opinion. For this issue, the journal invites articles that evaluate theories, test hypotheses and examine data using experimental designs (even if full experimental control in the strict laboratory sense is absent). Survey experiments on large and diverse populations are encouraged, as well as small and large scale field experiments.

This is an excellent opportunity for scholars using the CCES (Cooperative Congressional Election Study), to submit research papers drawing upon the numerous survey experimental stimuli that were placed on the 34 team modules in that survey.

Submissions are not limited to those using the CCES, but are invited from similar surveys implementing an experimental approach, such as TESS (Time Sharing Experiments in the Social Sciences), and others.

Papers reporting results from field experiment designs are also welcome.

Paper topics can include any relevant subject matter in American political behavior and opinion.

The deadline for submission of papers is May 15, 2008, although articles will be accepted and reviewed before then on a rolling basis. All papers should be approximately 22-28 pages in length, double-spaced, including a 150 word abstract. Papers should conform with the APR Guidelines as outlined in the submission instructions for the journal at http://www.bsos.umd.edu/gvpt/apr/ .

Questions, as well as electronic submissions should be directed to Jim Gimpel, Editor [email]
