The international symposium aims to discuss the interdependent relations between media and politics. Despite the existence of different approaches towards the effect of media on political structure, there is a widespread acceptance on the assumption that the relationship between media and politics is interdependent. Media, which can shape the political power and manipulate it, have an important impact on the political elites and decision-making processes. The interdependence between media and politics which functions economically and ideologically, while assisting in the reconstruction of selected discourses in media, prevents the representation of counter-hegemonic discourses, helps or makes the construction/deconstruction of political elites difficult. Consequently, it will be misleading to assume that these two fields could be dependent from on each other. The relationship between these two issues seems to be interrelated and cyclical.
