Recommendations for Council and Committee Members

Recommendations for Council Membership and Offices

The APSA Nominating Committee welcomes your suggestions for candidates for the 2012-13 Council. Next year, 8 council seats, 3 vice presidencies, and the offices of president-elect, and secretary are open. Council members serve staggered two-year terms. The president-elect, vice presidents, and secretary all serve one-year terms.

The committee encourages all members of APSA to suggest names for consideration. Those wishing to do so explain why they believe the person's accomplishments, background, and views would make them a good choice for a leadership position in APSA. The committee hopes to nominate a slate of accomplished scholars and practitioners who reflect the diverse membership of the association. To help the committee achieve this goal, they relied on the membership to forward suggestions and recommendations of candidates representing a broad spectrum of backgrounds, institutional settings, intellectual interests, professional experiences, and geographical regions.

The committee will meet in early 2012 to begin compiling a slate of candidates, which they will present to the current association president and council no later than April 14, 2012.  An offical report will be made during the APSA All Member Business Meeting on September 1, 2012, during the APSA annual meeting.

Send your recommendations for council service to the nominating committee at nominations@apsanet.org by Friday, January 13, 2012.

Seats also become available on the various award committees that help identify the next year's award recipients.

APSA president-elect Jane Mansbridge seeks recommendations from APSA members for standing and award committees for terms beginning in September 2012.
