Application: See website for more details

The purpose of this fellowship is to give outstanding mid-career health professionals in academic and community-based settings an opportunity to learn more about the legislative process through direct participation. Fellows actively contribute to the formulation of national health policies and accelerate their careers as leaders in health policy. In addition to their own enrichment activities, RWJ Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in the full range of APSA Congressional Fellowsip opportunities.

Initiated in 1973, the program is funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)and conducted by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) of the National Academy of Sciences under the direction of former RWJ Fellow, Dr. Marie Michnich.

The fellowship is a residential experience in Washington, D.C. with additional support for health policy leadership development activities. The Washington experience prepares individuals to influence the future of public health and health care and accelerate their own career development. Fellows must commit 100 percent of their time to program activities during the first 12 months. Up to six grants of up to $165,000 each will be made in 2010.
