Deadline: The application deadline for the current cycle has passed. Please consult the website listed for up-to-date information. Website: http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/iacweb/applic.htm
The Institute of American Cultures (IAC), in cooperation with the four Ethnic Studies Research Centers, offers fellowships to postdoctoral/visiting scholars to support research on African Americans, American Indians, Asian Americans, and Chicanas/os. Each center awards one fellowship for the academic year in a national competition. The fellowships are awarded to those individuals who, in the judgment of the IAC Executive Committee, show great promise in academic research and scholarship in ethnic studies. Fellowships are open to candidates from all disciplines.
ELIGIBILITY U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. from an accredited college/university or, in the case of a visiting scholar in the arts, a terminal degree in the appropriate field at the time of appointment. UCLA faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students are not eligible to apply.
STIPENDS AND ALLOWANCES IAC Postdoctoral Fellows/Visiting Scholars receive an academic-year stipend of $33,000 to $35,000, contingent on rank, experience, and date of completion of the Ph.D. If applicable, the stipend is paid in the form of a reimbursement to the Fellow’s/Scholar’s home institution. In addition to the stipend, IAC Fellows/Visiting Scholars are eligible for health benefits and up to $4,000 in research support. In the event that the fellowship is awarded for less than 9 months, the stipend and research grant funding are prorated and adjusted to the length of the award. Senior scholars may use the stipends to supplement sabbatical salaries.
