The Teaching and Learning Conference is a unique meeting in which APSA strives to promote greater understanding of cutting-edge approaches, techniques, and methodologies for the political science classroom. The conference provides a forum for scholars to share effective and innovative teaching and learning models and to discuss broad themes and values of political science education--especially the scholarship of teaching and learning.
The Teaching and Learning Conference will begin on Friday, February 5, 2010 at noon and close on Sunday Feburary 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM (EST).

Preregistration is closed. Onsite registration will be available in Philadelphia. Onsite rates are the same as preregistration rates (see rates).

2010 Conference Featured Speakers
Pi Sigma Alpha Keynote Address: "Teaching as Redemption" Rogers M. Smith, University of Pennsylvania
The American Political Science Association is pleased to announce that Dr. Rogers M. Smith will be the 2010 Pi Sigma Alpha Keynote Speaker at the APSA Teaching and Learning Conference. Dr. Smith is a former Vice President of the APSA Council and is the Christopher H. Browne Distinquished Professor in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. Smith is the Chair of the Penn Program for Democracy, Citizenship, and Constitutionalism. Throughout his career, Rogers has received numerous teaching and mentoring awards and has chaired many dissertation committees. More on Dr. Smith »
Opening Session Address: "Salvaging Citizenship: A Partnership for Pols and Scholars?" Bob Graham, Director, Graham Center for Public Service, Univeristy of Florida, Former U.S. Senator and Governor of Florida
Senator Bob Graham is former two–term governor of Florida and served for 18 years in the United States Senate. This is combined with 12 years in the Florida legislature for a total of 38 years of public service. Senator Graham is committeed to promoting the value of civic participation and public service through education. Currently, Senator Graham serves as the chair of the Board of Overseers of the Graham Center for Public Service. This Center, with a home at the University of Florida, commenced programs in the fall of 2007 in the areas of Public Service, Homeland Security, and the Americas, subjects in which he has been deeply involved during his public career. Meeting Format
- Themed tracks: Using the working group model, all meeting participants attend only one themed track for the duration of the conference.
- Workshops: In addition to traditional working groups, the conference also features special workshops that focus on practical issues related to teaching. In these workshops participants can interact with political scientists outside of their assigned themed track.

The call for proposals is now closed. Proposals are currently being reviewed and decisions will be announced in early November. If you submitted proposal, you will recieve a email notification at this time.
