Nominations Sought for APSR Editor
APSA Invites Nominations and Expressions of Interest for Editor of the American Political Science Review

Printer-friendly format
On August 31, 2007, Lee Sigelman will complete his second term as editor of the American Political Science Review.

The search committee invites suggestions for an editor or group of editors to lead the Review. The new editor or editors will be charged with maintaining the centrality of the Review to the profession and upholding the standards of excellence so carefully cultivated by Review editors since 1906, while at the same time fostering the intellectual pluralism that has been a hallmark of our discipline.

The APSA Council has authorized President Ira Katznelson to establish an APSR search committee to help identify a successor or successors to be presented for Council approval in August 2006. The members of the search committee are Robert O. Keohane of Princeton University (chair), John Carey of Dartmouth College, Rodney Hero of the University of Notre Dame, Nancy J. Hirschman of the University of Pennsylvania, Paula D. McClain of Duke University, Robert Powell of the University of California (Berkeley), Kathleen Thelen of Northwestern University, and Sidney Verba of Harvard University.

The Review is the centerpiece of the Association's publications.  Its contents represent the best work in political science to political scientists in the United States and abroad, to other social scientists, and to interested parties in foundations, government, and the private sector.  In the coming months, the search committee will be discussing ways in which the value of the Review to our profession could be further enhanced, including whether the Review, while remaining focused on the study of politics, could bring to the profession more interdisciplinary insights.   The committee looks forward to entering into creative discussions with prospective editors about ways in which the Review could contribute even more to our discipline.
