Location Change for 2006 APSA Annual Meeting
Council Announces Decision to Convene in Philadelphia

Printer-friendly format

August 4, 2005: The APSA Council has moved the site of the 2006 Annual Meeting from San Francisco to Philadelphia.  The dates of the meeting will remain the same, from August 31 through September 4, 2006.

Due to the lack of progress in the protracted labor-management dispute in San Francisco, the APSA Council decided it was inadvisable to hold the 2006 meeting in San Francisco as originally planned. The current and future labor disputes compromise the Association's ability to do the advanced planning needed for the 2006 meeting. In addition, the prospect of disruptions during the meeting meant the Association could not guarantee it would be able to deliver the quality meeting its members expect.

Philadelphia, the second largest city on the East Coast and birthplace of the American Republic, has the meeting and exhibit space, as well as hotel accommodations needed to put on a large, productive conference.  The Pennsylvania Convention Center will be the site of the APSA book exhibit and the majority of panel sessions. Panels will also be held in the adjoining Philadelphia Marriott. Participants will be offered a range of housing options that include, among others, the Philadelphia Loews, Ritz Carlton, and Hilton Garden all no more than a six minute walk from the Convention Center.

Philadelphia's meeting facilities, coupled with the city's cultural and dining opportunities, promise APSA's members a successful meeting in 2006.
