Instructions for Annual Meeting Panel Chairs
Printer-friendly format

Thank you for your commitment to chair a panel during the upcoming Annual Meeting.

We appreciate your support in circulating the Annual Meeting papers as widely as possible. The following guidelines are provided to help maximize and facilitate the exchange of scholarly research in political science.

Responsibilities of the Chair
The chair is responsible for introducing the session and its participants, timing presentations, and ensuring that discussion proceeds in a productive manner.  The format of the panel, including the length of presentations, should be agreed upon in advance of the conference, instead of during the few minutes before the session begins. Chairs should work closely with their discussant(s) on these points.

Chairs are also responsible for recommending papers to their Division Chairs for the Franklin C. Burdette/Pi Sigma Alpha Award, for the best paper presented at the Annual Meeting, by September 19, 2008.

Author Deadline
Authors have been notified of all necessary deadlines concerning pre-registration, paper title changes, and submission of final papers. APSA encourages authors to send electronic or hard copies directly to Chairs and Discussants by August 8, 2008.

PROCeedings: Posting Papers Online BEFORE the Meeting
PROceedings, the online archive of papers presented at the meeting, will launch late July. In early August, APSA will inform all members via email when they can access PROceedings and download papers before the Annual Meeting.
