The Nordic Political Science Association (NoPSA) is the Nordic extension of the national associations of political science in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. NoPSA sets out to promote political science as a discipline and professional co-operation among political scientists in the Nordic countries. To this end NoPSA shall:
-- take responsibility for the publication of a common journal, Scandinavian Political Studies (sps);
-- organize Nordic conferences and workshops;
-- promote the establishment of common project groups, particularly within the field of Nordic comparative research; and
-- coordinate Nordic co-operation within the framework of international professional organizations, particularly the International Political Science Association (IPSA) and the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR).
NoPSA has a board counting at least two members each from the political science associations of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden and one representative of the Icelandic association. The board elects a chairperson from amongst its members. The board also appoints a secretary. The chairperson is elected for a period of three years and may not be re-elected for the following three-year period. The election takes place at the board meeting held in connection with the NoPSA conference.
JOURNAL
Scandinavian Political Studies (SPS)
Scandinavian Political Studies, now published by Blackwell Publishers on behalf of the Nordic Political Science Association, is the only English language political science journal from Scandinavia. The journal publishes widely on policy and electoral issues affecting the Scandinavian countries, and sets those issues in European and global context. Highly ranked by the ISI, Scandinavian Political Studies is an indispensable source for all those researching and teaching in Scandinavian political science, public policy and electoral analysis.
