Annual Conference on the Political Economy of International Organization
Political Economy of International Organization (PEIO)
We invite submissions for the 19th annual conference on the Political Economy of International Organization. The conference is hosted by the University of Texas at Austin in the United States. The conference brings together economists and political scientists to address political economy issues related to international organizations such as the World Trade Organization, United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, European Union, and others. We also consider submissions on topics more broadly related to international organization, such as foreign aid, international agreements, and international law.
Both empirical and theoretical papers and pre-analysis plans for experimental papers* will be considered. Please submit full papers or pre-analysis plans* via our online submission form at www.peio.me. The deadline for submission is September 20, 2026. We will make decisions by early October.

The current political landscape is filled with a bewildering terminology, with old terms redefined and new terms entered into the lexicon: Competitive Authoritarianism, Patrimonialism, Ungoverning, Populism and more. Join us for the 2025 Symposium of the UC Irvine Center for Neuropolitics, when we will address how these terms reflect our political moment. The Symposium includes the Jerrold Post Lecture on Neuropolitics, to be given by Professor Steven Levitsky.

The State of the Parties: 2024 & Beyond
Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics, University of Akron
The University of Akron’s Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics will sponsor the ninth quadrennial “State of the Parties” conference, November 6 – 7, 2025, in Akron, Ohio.
The conference will bring together scholars and practitioners to assess changes in American political parties after the 2024 federal election. As in the past, the best papers will be included in the 10th edition of The State of the Parties, scheduled to be published in 2026.
Paper proposals on any aspect of contemporary American political parties are welcome. Topics of particular interest include:
- Shifts in the two-party system, including elites, activists, factions, and ideologies
- Prospects for realignment, including shifts in mass constituencies, issue cleavages, party images, and levels of participation
- Innovations in national, state, and local party organizations, including relations with candidates and organized interests, voter outreach and mobilization
- Impact of digital technology, the new media environment, and financial resources on party operations
- Changes regarding party-in-government, including the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the federal and state governments, and the capacity to govern
- Proposals for party reform, including nominations, voting laws, and prospects for multi-party politics
- Normative concerns, such as parties and support for democratic norms, polarization and extremism, representation and legitimacy Scholars interested in presenting a paper should submit a one-page proposal by March 16, 2025, to the Bliss Institute at bliss@uakron.edu. Northeastern Political Science Association Annual Meeting
The Northeastern Political Science Association will hold its 57th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia on November 6-8, 2025, at the Warwick Hotel Rittenhouse Square Philadelphia. It will be a fully in-person conference.

The Citadel Symposium on Southern Politics
The Department of Political Science hosts The Citadel Symposium on Southern Politics, the largest and most comprehensive conference for the presentation and discussion of scholarly research on the contemporary politics of a specific region in the country.
The Symposium has been held biennially, in even-numbered years, on the campus of The Citadel since 1978. The 2026 Symposium will be held on The Citadel campus on Thursday and Friday, 5-6 March 2026. We hope to see you in 2026.
