Founded in 1903, the American Political Science Association is the leading professional organization for the study of political science and serves more than 15,000 members in over 80 countries. With a range of programs and services for individuals, departments and institutions, APSA brings together political scientists from all fields of inquiry, regions, and occupational endeavors within and outside academe in order to expand awareness and understanding of politics.

Comparative Democratization Section
The Comparative Democratization Section exists to promote the analysis of the origins, processes,
and outcomes of democratization among nations, spur communication among political scientists
whose scholarship focuses on particular world regions, and stimulate greater involvement within
APSA of political scientists working in various areas like Africa, the Middle East, Latin America,
the Far East, Europe, and the countries of the former Soviet Union.
