Founded in 1951, the Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP) is an interdisciplinary community of scholars, practitioners, advocates, and students engaged in the application of critical, scientific and humanistic perspectives to the study of vital social problems. Many members are social scientists who teach in colleges and universities. SSSP's mission is "scholarship in pursuit of a just society." Seventeen SSSP Special Programs Divisions focus on members' particular interests.
