The Institute of Contemporary British History organises seminars and conferences, publishes books and journals and undertakes research projects to promote, encourage and widen knowlege of history within living memory. Its primary aims are to encourage the study and better understanding of post-war British history in schools and throughout higher education; the use of historical experience in government and business decision-making; the development of oral archives and resources for post-war British history; research into post-war British history, especially in neglected areas; inter-disciplinary contacts for those working on contemporary Britain; the dissemination of information about, and the preservation of, archives and sources on post-war British history.
