Achieving diversity and inclusion in political science is a priority for the
American Political Science Association. Recognizing the many differences,
among them — demographic, substantive, intellectual, pedagogical,
methodological, and institutional — and leveraging this variation is critical not only to
the success of individual political scientists but to the strength and
longevity of the disciplinary enterprise. The individual and collective
creativity and innovation required for disciplinary responses to an
ever-changing world depend on our ability to harness the variety of unique contributions and differences in our
research, teaching, and service. The role of APSA is to facilitate this

Current Opportunities & Information
The APSA Ombuds will available during the 2017 annual meeting to speak with any meeting attendee on a variety of topics including, but not limited to, consultation with any meeting attendees who believe that they have experienced any form of harassment, or have concerns about violations of the sexual harassment provisions of the APSA anti-harassment policy while onsite at the 2017 annual meeting.

In the weeks following the 2016 Election, APSA will be posting a series of 2016 Election Reflections from APSA members on a diverse collection of topics including race, ethnicity and the 2016 election, gender and politics, and pieces addressing the political behavior and public opinion of a wide-ranging collection of communities. APSA Programs Promoting Diversity
Minority Fellows Program is a fellowship provides support for individuals from under-represented backgrounds applying to and currently enrolled in doctoral programs in political science.
Ralph Bunche Summer Institute (RBSI) is an annual five-week program designed to introduce undergraduate students from under represented racial/ethnic groups or students interested in broadening participation in political science and pursuing scholarship on issues affecting under-represented groups to the world of graduate study and to encourage application to PhD programs. This is the 31st year of RBSI excellence! The 2017 RBSI program, held at Duke University, runs from May 28-June 29, 2017.

Minority Student Recruitment Program (MSRP) is a collaboration between undergraduate and graduate programs in political science that connects undergraduate students from under-represented backgrounds who are interested in, or show potential for, graduate study with graduate programs interested in recruiting diverse cohorts of doctoral students.
APSA Mentoring Program
The Mentoring Program connects undergraduate, graduate students, and junior faculty to experienced and senior members of the profession for professional development mentoring. .
Fund for Latino Scholarship
The primary purpose of the Fund for Latino Scholarship is to encourage and support the recruitment, retention and promotion of Latino/a political scientists. A secondary goal is to support research on Latino/a politics. 2017 Application deadline: June 15, 2017.
APSA Status Committees
The American Political Science Association status committees develop reports and projects, and promote activities concerning advancement through the pipeline and the professional development of scholars from underrepresented groups within the political science discipline.
